Nobody wants to be seen with orange streaks all over their arms and legs. But that’s what happens sometimes when using self tanning lotion. Here we will review some tips to help you avoid the “orange streak” look.
Exfoliate
Your skin has a layer of dead skin on it. If you exfoliate first before applying the tanning product it will be easier for it to absorb into your skin, rather than getting soaked up by dead skin that will just flake off.
Moisturize
Similar to above, dry skin will eventually flake off your body. By moisturizing your body before applying the tanning lotion you will avoid the “blotchy” look.
Avoid Steam
Sweat can cause the tanner to melt and drip. A steamy bathroom (think hot shower) can cause the body to sweat. Make sure your body has cooled off before using any tanning products.
Slow Down
Lotion don’t dry as fast as foam does. For best results, take your time and apply the product carefully and evenly.
Wash Often
You might want to wear gloves to protect your hands. If you don’t have a pair of latex gloves it’s a good idea to wash your hands often. This will help prevent the lotion from making your hands too dark. Another option is to use a small sponge.
Wait
Don’t get dressed too quickly. Give the lotion time to “sink in” to your skin. Putting on clothing too quickly will not only risk streaking your tan, but might ruin your clothes as well.
We believe that using self tanning lotion is the safest way to get an all-over tan. And now you can do it without the odd-looking streaks.
